10 Mindful eating

When you eat with attention you are in contact with your food because your mind is not distracted, it does not think about other things, it attends the meal. When you look at the raisin, you really see it and when you chew it, you really feel its flavor. The present is the only time you have to perceive, learn, act, change, heal ... That is why the awareness of each moment is so valuable. Self-teaching by practicing this exercise will make our experiences more real, conscious and authentic.

For today we are going to perform one of the most known exercises in mindfulness, the raisin exercise

But don't worry, if you don't have raisins it doesn't matter, go to the kitchen and get some food that grows

from the earth, either fruit or vegetables and that you like to eat normally, to do this eating exercise

Normally we feed ourselves in an unconscious way, without tasting the food too much and distracting ourselves

with the television, the cell phone or any other thing, thinking about work, what you have to do or what you have to do or what you have to do

And really the meal is a sacred moment in which we introduce energy to our body, that's why we must give it the attention it deserves

I hope you already have near you that food or fruit that you have chosen for the occasion

Let's start with the exercise

Sit comfortably, with your feet on the floor and your back straight

Take a few breaths consciously, paying close attention to how the air enters and exits smoothly

into you

Now observe carefully the food you have chosen, keep your eyes on it, contemplating it without further ado

Look at its surface, in its color, inspect it in detail, looking in every nook and cranny, every stain, every wrinkle, every pligue or small hole

Touch it now with your eyes closed and study its texture, not just with your hands

but also with another part of your body, like for example the cheeks

It is time to bring it close to your nose and appreciate all the nuances of its aroma

Breathe in and receive its scent

Pay attention to all the details, the sensations that this scent provokes in your body

And finally take it to your mouth, bite a small piece and discover the touch of that food

in your mouth, its taste, its texture, its firmness, chew it quietly, without haste, tasting it

with pleasure

Swallow it and visualize how all your light, all your nutrients and all your energy passes into your body, filling it with color, covering you with that pleasant aroma, caressing you

How did you feel during this exercise? Have you felt any difference between how you normally eat this food and how you have eaten it now? Surely yes, try from now on to eat with your five senses on the plate, calmly

and being very conscious of your nutrition

We are what we eat, but also how we eat it, enjoy it
