12 Active observation

Active meditation is a state of relaxation that allows us to see everything that happens inside us, the observation that allows us to approach a state of peace, love, compassion and generosity towards ourselves. We are so connected to the outside that we neglect to listen to ourselves and attend to what we really want. You will do an exercise where you will have to put all your attention on the details of the reality that surrounds you, observing the sky, a landscape, a tree, whatever inspires you the most.

The eyes are our main guides when we move through the physical world and with them we pick up information of our exterior, to make it arrive to our brain

They are a powerful tool that sometimes we underestimate or misuse

That's why today I propose two exercises to exercise your mindfulness, very curious and fun

Let's start with the simplest one

I want you to sit down somewhere quiet and where you can feel at ease, preferably alone

I am going to ask you to raise your right hand and bring your palm about 20cm from your face, I want you to observe it carefully, to appreciate each of its details

You have seen it all your life but you have rarely stopped to contemplate it as you are doing now

Observe all its lines, its color, its imperfections, its size, its depth, the length of your fingers, their shapes

Look at your wrist area, with your hand totally relaxed

Can it be seen at your pulse rate on the surface? Be aware of the wonderful tool you have in front of you, able to create great works of art, to give love, to feel, to realize all your desires and orders, feel gratitude invading your body

And now let's move on to second exercise that I have thought for you, I want you to look for a window or if you are outdoors, a place close to a tree or where you can lie down and watch the sky, if you can't, keep an eye on the screen

At this very moment things are happening around you, let's open our eyes and heart to the sky

pay full attention to what is happening

How that tree moves, that cloud, how the cars go by, the birds, the people, whatever you're looking at

Focus on the present moment and feel that sensation of being awake, observe every detail, color, texture, movement

Accompany this relaxation with your slow, calm breathing, without forcing
