In this course you will find a complete sample of the Jivamukti Yoga method from the hand of our teacher Candida Vivalda (Certified in Jivamukti Yoga, 800 hours).
It is an integral method of Yoga based on the physical practice of Hatha-Vinyasa whose classes incorporate the chanting of mantras, meditation and a theme of reflection based on aspects related to the classical teachings of yoga, which will help you to perceive Yoga not only as a physical practice, but as a compassionate lifestyle towards yourself and others, urging you to practice with a higher intention.
Jivamukti Yoga is a vigorous, accessible to all levels with which you will be able to work on your strength, flexibility and balance. In addition, through this course you will be able to improve and learn the correct alignment of the main Yoga asanas through the corrections made by Candida.
What does Jivamukti mean?
Jivamukti means "liberation in life" and comes from the Sanskrit concepts "JIVA", which means individual soul and "MUKTI", which means liberation. Its aim is to reach a state of enlightenment or god-realization.
Origin of Jivamukti Yoga
The Jivamukti Yoga method was created by Americans Sharon Gannon and David Life in New York in the 1980s. Their influences to create the Jivamukti Yoga method have been different teachers and lineages with whom they have learned in their own yogic path. One of the references was the well-known Yoga teacher and creator of the Ashtanga method, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Swami Nirmalananda, his first teacher. Nirmalananda was a swami who practiced ahimsa, mauna (silence) and was the one who taught them to work for peace in the world.
The pillars of the Jivamukti Yoga method are:
- Ahimsa (a compassionate lifestyle towards all beings);
- Bhakti Yoga (devotional practice through the chanting of mantras);
- Dhyana (meditation);
- Nada (conscious listening);
- Shastras (studies of the main yoga scriptures such as the yoga sustras of Patanjali or Bhagavad Gita).
