Get closer to the essence of Zen through this 20-episode course, where we will visit sacred spaces and spectacular places in Japan, guided by Amaia Luzurika, our guide on this journey into the world of Zen.
Since she can remember, Amaia feels a deep interest in nature, inner peace and oriental disciplines. This led her to be initiated into the worlds of Yoga, Meditation and Eastern philosophies. Hence her passion for tea and food, where she is considered an expert and from where she shapes her current way of making a living. In this trip to Japan we approach one of the richest and most surprising cultures on earth, where we will discover the essence of Zen, making us aware of the noise that encompasses everything in modern life, taking us away from the essential center of our being.
What is ZEN?
ZEN does not imply a belief system, but the experience of living life as it happens in the present moment. To achieve this, it teaches us to purify, in a path of austerity that praises simplicity. It is a discipline that seeks to transform consciousness and awaken us from the world of daydreams in which the chain of thoughts immerses us to see the world as it is. Practicing Zen develops intuition, the perception of silence and subtlety. The Zen school focuses on meditation to achieve spiritual awakening, differentiating itself from other schools that dedicate more time to the study of texts. With its expansion to other parts of the world, Zen acquired diverse influences and added numerous techniques.
With this course you will be able to:
- Approach one of the simplest spiritual disciplines, and at the same time, more difficult to understand.
- Learn to practice Zen meditation or Zazen (sitting meditation) and Kinhin meditation (walking meditation) and discover the health benefits of these techniques.
- Know the history of Zen, told from its origins, as well as its culture, art, wabi-sabi aesthetics, writing, martial arts ... explained in depth.
- We will see in detail the Koans (didactic formula anchored in a seemingly absurd question as the goal of breaking the normal patterns of thought and enter into a sudden awareness of enlightenment), the Haiku (short poems related to nature or daily life), and the Chanoyu (way of tea through its ceremony).
- We will review the main Zen sutras (12 principles), their love of nature and amusing Zen anecdotes as well as the unknown world of Zen masters.
Our Zen course consists of more than 20 videos filmed in spectacular locations in Japan, plus a documentary.
