The chestnut is one of the most symbolic fruits of autumn. The chestnut is a very ancient tree that grows in cool, moist climates throughout Europe, parts of Asia and North America. It is an entirely seasonal food, only found fresh from the beginning of October to the beginning of January. The main quality of chestnuts is that they are a high quality carbohydrate. 50% of their composition is water and they are a terrific source of energy, which the brain needs to function properly.
