Getting to know the Historical Jesus. Myths and truths about Jesus Christ

Conscious TV

September 28, 2020

Conscious Television wants to share with you the premiere of the new documentary, Knowing the Historical Jesus, through which we will analyse his life and thought based on historical science, that is to say, alluding to the canonical Gospels and the rest of the New Testament, and the references of historians such as Flavius Josephus or Cornelius Tacitus.

For this, we have the international professor and researcher, Mr. Antonio Piñero, who will transmit us his knowledge gained through a whole life dedicated to the investigation of this historical figure, beyond interpretations, myths and legends. He is the author and writer of numerous works on Christianity and Judaism.

And who do you say that I am?

(Mk 8, 27-30)

What do we really know about Jesus Christ, the most influential historical figure of all time?

He whose birth marks the beginning of a new era and has influenced the lives of so many people, and whose figure has endured to this day.

From the objectivity offered by historical sources, in the documentary we will analyse questions that many seekers of truth have asked themselves at some point in their lives. Such as:

Did Jesus really exist and what was he really like?

To this end, we will address issues related to his life:

  • Physical appearance and personality.
  • Place and date of birth, education and family.
  • Relationship with his mother, Mary Magdalene and other women close to him, such as Salome and Joanna.

And much more.

Did Jesus intend to found a religion or did he remain faithful to Judaism?

Although it is clear that his preaching is within the theological, sociological and philosophical outlines of Judaism, Jesus emphasised familiar aspects of Jewish theology by making them new. The core of his message was the immediate coming of the Kingdom of God, following the proclamation of his Master John the Baptist, but expressing the demand for an even more radical change of life.

Which parts of the story of Jesus of Nazareth are myths and which are true facts?

This documentary does not seek to undermine or question the Christian faith, but to identify that part of its legacy that does not refer to proven facts.

We will also address issues related to the political, economic, historical, cultural and social context of the time, in order to understand why his message was relatively well received by the people but ended up being condemned to death by the Roman governor of the Province of Judea, Pontius Pilate.

Without further ado, we invite you to watch this interesting documentary: Knowing the Historical Jesus.

If you want to know more about these and other interesting and unknown questions such as the main currents of early Christianity; the lost years of Jesus; did Jesus travel to Egypt or India; the Apocryphal Gospels and more, visit our Historical Jesus Course, with Professor D. Antonio Piñero.

Antonio Piñero's words: "The figure of Jesus of Nazareth, as a lay historian, but very respectful of faith and beliefs, is sufficiently impressive for me to dedicate an entire life to him. What I would highlight most about him is his integrity; the clear purpose he has; how he is absolutely consistent with all his ideas; how he preaches ideas that have had an impact on the history of mankind".
