The gods of Hinduism are 3: Brahma, creator of the world; Visnu, curator of the world; Shiva, god of destruction. And all of them are necessary in the cycle of life. Another important aspect to consider is karma. Karma is a law of cause and effect by which our positive or negative acts have an impact on our successive reincarnations.
