Superfoods in cosmetics, natural beauty
September 28, 2020
In our kitchen we can find some foods that not only feel good on the inside, but also help us to look better on the outside. Today we are going to talk about the use of two superfoods in cosmetics that we have already told you about their benefits: honey and oil.
Honey cosmetic uses:
The high presence of antioxidants among the properties of honey makes it suitable for the treatment of wrinkles, blemishes and flaccidity. In addition, honey helps to reduce inflammation and regenerate the skin from burns and ulcers.
If you want to include this meal as part of your beauty routine, you can ready a homemade honey body scrub. Mix equal amounts of honey, brown sugar and almond oil in a half-litre glass jar; for a more intense scrub, you can add half a portion of beach sand. You will get rid of all the dead skin cells and your skin will be soft and moisturised.
The face scrub version is even simpler: mix honey with soft oatmeal and almond oil. Do not use the body scrub recipe on the face as facial skin is more delicate and needs a gentler version.
Oil cosmetic uses:
Why haven't you ever thought of oil as a mouthwash? It is interesting to know that the lipids in the oil absorb toxins from the gums, tongue and part of the throat. We suggest an Ayurvedic mouthwash in the morning. How?
Take two tablespoons of virgin oil and hold it in your mouth in a swirling motion for 10 to 15 minutes. When you have finished, spit out the mixture.
You can also use extra virgin olive oil as a make-up remover. Oil is a great ally for the skin, not only to nourish it but also to cleanse it. It is especially effective for removing eye make-up and for getting rid of mascara.
How to use olive oil as a make-up remover? Put a small amount on a cotton pad and gently wipe it over your face. After cleansing, you can wash your face with lukewarm water and use your usual tonic.
Another use of olive oil in cosmetics is as a body moisturiser. We recommend using the fruitier varieties as they will leave a rich aroma on your skin. You will notice how soft and deeply nourished your skin is. It is also very effective in preventing the appearance of stretch marks.
