There are several varieties of pine, but all of them are useful from a medicinal point of view. We use the pine needles and buds when they are still tender. It has very powerful antiseptic properties both for the respiratory tract and for urinary tract infections. It can be used with heather and bearberry for respiratory infections. It can also be used as a rubefacient for rubbing in areas with chronic infections.
