How to integrate the principles of Reiki

Description     More info

When we manage to integrate the principles of Reiki, all the tasks we perform and the circumstances we go through in life we experience them from the consciousness and with full presence. It is a way of living in the present moment with full awareness, what we commonly call mindfulness. This way of living is not the goal of Reiki but a direct consequence when we integrate its practice. To integrate all the knowledge and levels of Reiki, it is important that time passes, it is not something that can be internalized quickly and it will depend on different factors such as your own level of consciousness, your commitment to the practice, the attunement with the therapist....

Welcome back to this new session

In the last one we were commenting on what were the principles that governed the technique, the Reiki therapy

Today we are going to see or we are going to link that work on these principles, what it achieves, is that we have a much more conscious attitude every time we are performing a task, every time we are interacting with the world

That is, to continue with those principles and really integrate them in our life, would lead us to an attitude of mindfulness, to an attitude in which we are really very much anchored in the present and in the concrete things that we are doing

It's true that when we pay attention to everyday activities they become much more magical, in the sense that if you're in a hurry to make dinner, I'm not going to enjoy the activity itself, but if I really concentrate on how I peel the potato, on how the skin is peeling off the body of the potato, in how my hand moves about it, any sensation or any place to which you direct your attention is going to generate that this activity, this task, is not a normal task, a meaningless task

and a task that I do in an automated way, but we're actually going to do it with an attitude very conscious and it's in this sense that Reiki helps us in being able to really live every task and every circumstance of life

in a very conscious way

In this way, the Reiki therapist or the Reiki practitioner would become a fully conscious being, a caring being, it would be like the ultimate expression of beauty or fullness

This is really a little bit what we're looking for, but it's not so much of a goal, but more as a consequence of daily practice and of that discipline that we have commented before that was so necessary

Even though the therapist happens to be this caring being, does not mean that he is as such the healer or the healer, we also commented it before, the therapist becomes the person through whom the energy flows, is not directly the transmitter of energy

I mean, as a reikist it is not that I give you my energy

and I become empty of energy by sharing it with you, but in the end what I do is that the universal energy through me can flow into your body

It is also very important that we find or that we as therapists we value honesty, that we really have the honesty as the basis of some of our principles

By honesty I mean to be very clear and to be very truthful

with what we can transmit to others, those aspects that we can work on and those aspects we can't work on or maybe they are too big for us or maybe we need to explore more

For that, as we were saying already as well, we must first be honest with ourselves and then with others

There is also a lot of talk in Reiki that it is true that it can lead to to increase our ego, in the sense that if I'm giving therapy or treatment to somebody and I start to see that this person heals, he's getting better and better, it's quote unquote simple

that I came to think of this as my accomplishment, that I even get to brag about it

We are looking for a little bit to get out of that more egocentric part

in which we believe we are the actor of the therapy

and feel ourselves directly as the channel and as the transmitter

I would also like to highlight some important nuances which are not always found in all traditions or all transmissions of Reiki courses

The first nuance is that we really need necessary time at each level to be able to integrate all this knowledge

Although sometimes we find Reiki courses in which in one weekend, level 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 are given, on my own and personal level and when I work with my students, I do like that we take the time that is necessary to integrate each of the levels

It would be like wanting to learn to play the guitar and in one weekend play the most basic notes, bulerías and alegrías

In principle we will probably need some time to really get to know the chords well, to get the hang of the guitar, to give our hand some fluency and then move on to the next phase, which would be to establish new rhythms, new songs, new palos

If we bring this example of the guitar to Reiki, we can apply it a little bit the same

The first level is the most important, for me it's really the one that sets the base for everything

and without working this level in an important way and in a conscious way, in a totally paused way in which we go slowly integrating both what we have studied theoretically as well as all those practices that we are doing

Without this necessary step of dedicating the time that level 1 demands, I would consider it a bit pretentious to want to study level 2, which will open the doors to a new level of vibration

and to a new level of knowledge, but we would be a little bit lame having left knowledge in the past that have not yet been fully integrated

So the nuance basically was, spend the necessary time on each of the levels

There is no fixed time, i

e, it is not established that each level needs three months, it's going to depend a lot on you, on your practice, on your level of consciousness, where you come from, whether you have worked with other energy therapies in the past, if this is the first time

Therefore, it is going to be the trainee who at a specific time decides that he is ready, that you already really feel that you have absorbed and integrated all that knowledge that he needed to move to the next level

The apprentice will propose it and it will be the master who will actually consider if this person is ready or if instead it is necessary to wait a little bit longer and think about working at the next level in the future

If this should happen, the trainee himself will have to take it as a seed of honesty, of truthfulness and to continue to work at the level at which it is until your teacher indicates that it is a good time to move on to the next one

A good example of this necessary relationship of trust between master and apprentice is the relationship that was established between Usui and Hayashi, who were friends in the past, and it is at this point that they really know each other as people, at the moment when Hayashi decides to start studying with Usui

With this I try to reflect that it is not simply about that we go to a course where information is transmitted to us, but that the relationship that is established between master and apprentice really becomes a more and more intimate relationship, more and more friendly, in which we get to know each other

and we really get so much that the apprentice learns from the master as well as the master from the apprentice

In this relationship that is generated between the master and the apprentice, during the courses, in addition to the transmission of the necessary information of the practices, attunements or initiations are going to be performed

The initiations are a ritual by which the teacher is as if opening the gates of the universal energy so that the apprentice can receive an unlimited amount of such energy

So that this attunement and this initiation will flow in the correct vibration, as I was saying before, this relationship of mutual trust is necessary

between each other

In the attunements different energetic points will be balanced, different chakras will be stimulated, we will also work with symbology, which is the one handled and practiced by the master, and also, when working with chakras, I would like to bring in the lotus flower analogy

which is used a lot in Reiki, because the lotus flower is a flower that grows from the mud, from the mud seeking the light, it is once the light comes when it opens these petals, is a symbology that in Reiki is used a lot, because besides working with the chakras would be a little bit what we are looking for from the person as well, that in spite of the adversities and the mud and the mire that we have around us, the person will find the way to come to the light and once in the light to blossom and come a little bit to that state where you expand your petals or your personal vibration

As I was saying, in addition to the chakras, the master in the initiation will work with different symbols, symbols that in each of the courses will also be transmitted to the apprentice

These symbols, or this symbology, which is called yantras

in many places in the East, have the power to represent a part of our subconscious mind

that otherwise we might not be able to connect

They are symbols that are so focused on protection, and meditation, as well as self-knowledge, we are not going to insist too much on them, we are not going to go one by one, since, as I say, in the end they are symbols that are much better understood

once we are doing the training courses, but I did want to point out that there are four important symbols within reiki and that it will be the master who will be transmitting them to us as we need them

As we have seen in different sessions, both in this one, at the end of the day, what reiki seeks is that we are very connected to the present moment, that we be very aware of what is happening both within us and within us

as well as outside, that we establish an exceptional confidence with our master, and that we use ourselves as a laboratory with which to explore and we'll see a little bit more in particular in the next session how to work with all this
