Description

This chapter deals with the threefold classification of ÅšraddhaÌ… on the basis of the modes of nature or Gunas: Sattva (implying qualities of goodness, knowledge, purity), Rajas (passion, ambition, activity) and Tamas (ignorance, dullness, suffering). ÅšraddhaÌ… is usually translated as "faith", although the full Sanskrit meaning of the word refers to something else. ÅšraddhaÌ… is the attitude towards life (towards the body, towards people, food, charity, disciplines, wealth...), it is our understanding and structure of values and priorities in life.
