Relationship with the sick person

Description

For Dr. Alexandra Mejía, based on her personal experience, a model that offers tools and resources in terms of skills and attitudes for adequate accompaniment is the Help Relationship. The helping relationship or person-centered relationship emerged in the United States and was pioneered by Carl Rogers, one of the founders of the humanistic psychology movement. It is based on acceptance, respect and empathy, to create a welcoming space in which the person can contact and express their own feelings and gain self-confidence. The tendency to moralize, paternalism and authoritarianism are avoided.
