Nilesh R. Tiwari’s journey in the world of yoga has taken him through multiple systems of thought and practice, which nurture his life’s devotion to practice and learning. He started studying Asanas when he was still in school. He spent many years studying Yoga in various Ashrams in India, with different Gurus. Over the years, he’s become fascinated by the precision and subtle forms of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system. His studies expanded to include Yoga Therapy and Sivananda Yoga.
Nilesh also teaches in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition. He is certified by BNS Iyengar in Mysore. He has been awarded the title of Yoga Acharya-Master from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram. He is currently pursuing his higher education at the Yoga University of India, which includes ancient texts such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Vigan Bhairav Tantra, Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita, to name a few.
As an athlete, he has a deep interest in the human body, combined with his observational skills and a precise body adjustment style. His teaching style is infused with humility, kindness and simplicity. Nilesh strives to create a class environment that is non-intimidating, cheerful and inquisitive, and one in which students are encouraged to challenge themselves and grow with the practice. His Jakarta Ashtanga Yoga Shala center is located in Jakarta, Indonesia. It hosts various retreats and workshops, and organizes festivals and retreats in India and other countries.
