MBCT (Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy) is an international program to reduce stress, anxiety, prevent relapse in depression and low mood.
The program combines mindfulness with the practical skills provided by cognitive therapy. MBCT-Spain was created with the purpose of promoting the training and competent practice of Mindfulness and the MBCT program, its social and institutional recognition and its access in different areas of application.
The specific objectives are:
- To disseminate and make the MBCT program accessible in different fields of application: clinical, educational and general population.
- To ensure quality, competent, accredited and continuous training of teachers of the MBCT program.
- Promote and disseminate scientific research.
MBCT-Spain is made possible thanks to the close collaboration with the Centre for Mindfulness Research & Practice (CMRP), a center of excellence in Mindfulness, within the School of Psychology at the University of Bangor (Wales-UK). Founded by Mark Williams, the MBCT protocol was developed there. The CMRP is a pioneering center in research and training professionals in Mindfulness-based interventions.
